The Sea Is History; We Have Not Learned from It
Jasmine Nikki ‘Nikay’ C. Paredes

As we die we become
lighter. We are held

by a bruise-like dark.
On the surface the sea

foams obscenities.
We engine into

the horizon then sink
unfathomed.

Drowning is like being
in another country

is like being stabbed
in another country.
